Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - The state-owned shipbuilder, PT PAL Indonesia, has delivered the Future Landing Dock (LD)-603 warship to the Philippines, highlighting the resilience of Indonesia's maritime industry.
President Director of PT PAL Indonesia Kaharuddin Djenod said the Future Landing Dock (LD)-603 is the first of two Landing Docks ordered by the Philippine Navy.
"The LD-603 is an important milestone in the success of PT PAL Indonesia's strategic export project," he remarked on Wednesday.
Kaharuddin explained that the hull construction was completed in just six months through the implementation of Industrial Maritime 4.0 (IM4), which integrates digital production processes, increased efficiency, and comprehensive quality control.
According to him, the application of this technology allows for accelerated construction without compromising the quality standards required by international customers.
The Future Landing Dock is the latest generation of landing transport vessels designed to support a wide spectrum of operations, from amphibious operations, personnel and logistics transport, maritime security, to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions.
Following the launch, the ship will undergo outfitting, harbor acceptance tests, and sea acceptance tests before handover to the Philippine Navy.
Kaharuddin stated that the launch of Landing Dock-603 marks more than a project milestone, describing it as a symbol of the strong strategic partnership between Indonesia and the Philippines in enhancing the region's defense industry capabilities.
"We are committed to maintaining customer trust by delivering high-quality products," he pointed out.
Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy, Vice Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta, also expressed his appreciation for PT PAL Indonesia's professionalism in meeting the Philippine Navy's fleet needs.
He noted that the vessel will significantly strengthen the Philippines' capacity to transport personnel, equipment, and logistics across its archipelago.
Furthermore, the ship will enhance operational flexibility for amphibious operations, maritime security missions, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Lieutenant General Rommel P. Roldan, added that the landing dock procurement is a strategic investment to strengthen his country's maritime capabilities.
"Once delivered and officially commissioned, this ship will enhance the Philippine Navy's capabilities in conducting military sealift operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions, amphibious operations, and various other strategic operations," he said.
