Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said has announced new summer measures aimed at protecting the welfare of Malta’s horse-drawn carriage horses.
From today until the end of August, horse-drawn carriages will not carry passengers between 1:00pm and 4:00pm, avoiding the hottest hours of the day.
In a video shared on social media, Bugeja Said said the health and well-being of every animal remains a priority.
“The health and well-being of every animal remain our priority,” she said, explaining that the midday suspension is intended to protect the horses from extreme summer temperatures.
The measure will remain in force until the end of August, allowing carriage services to continue operating outside the peak heat hours.
