PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — Two separate anti-illegal drug operations in Zamboanga Sibugay on Tuesday led to the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of about P4 million worth of suspected shabu, the police reported.
At around 9:03 p.m. on June 30, operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-9 (PDEA-9), backed by multiple law enforcement units, conducted a buy-bust operation at Purok 1, Barangay Lower Tungawan, Tungawan town.

Two men, both residents of Zamboanga City, were arrested.

In a statement, PDEA-9 said that operatives recovered eleven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing crystalline substances believed to be shabu, weighing about two kilograms valued at P13.6 million.
The seized evidence will undergo forensic examination at the Provincial Forensic Unit in Zamboanga Sibugay.
The suspects are detained at the Tungawan Municipal Police Station pending charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a separate operation in Alicia town, joint operatives enforced a search warrant against a male suspect.

Confiscated during the raid were an estimated 50 grams of suspected shabu valued at P340,000, assorted drug paraphernalia, and a Colt Caliber .45 pistol with an inserted magazine, a police report said.
The pieces of evidence were inventoried in the presence of witnesses before being turned over for forensic examination.

The suspect is now under police custody, facing charges for violations of RA 9165 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Col. Barnard Danie Dasugo, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office director, commended the operating units for their successful operations and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying the campaign against illegal drugs in the province. /apl
