
MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City has issued a permit for the third day of the Iglesia ni Cristo – led rally on Thursday, July 2.

Based on the copy of the permit, the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety expressed no objection to the conduct of the rally along White Plains Avenue and Temple Drive near the Edsa People Power Monument.

The city government, however, noted that the number of participants should not exceed the organizers’ estimated number of participants of 100,000.

It also reminded INC that the rally cannot be held anywhere else.
“Holding the rally in any place other than that indicated herein constitutes a prohibited act under Section 13 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 880 and may be subject to appropriate legal action,” the permit read.
“Likewise, all activity should not impede the security measures implemented by the Quezon City Police District and the City’s Law and Order Cluster, nor the normal flow of traffic during the entire activity, as determined by the Traffic and Transport Management Department and the Metro Manila Development Authority,” it added.
The city government also listed the following guidelines to be strictly followed:

No total road closure shall be undertaken for the duration of the activity
The cleanliness and orderliness of the area shall be maintained at all times and must be thoroughly cleaned after the event
This clearance may be revoked or canceled in case of emergency, when the public interest so demands, or as a result of non-compliance with any of the conditions stated herein.
The INC rally first began with no permit on Tuesday as protesters expressed support for Sen. Rodante Marcoleta who is set to be charged with a non-bailable case of plunder in the Sandiganbayan this week. /gsg
