US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said America was “getting along very well” with Iran and that recent meetings with Qatar went well, adding that US forces “hit them very hard” for three nights.
Trump’s statement comes as the US and Iran held technical talks in Doha on Wednesday, and the delegations sought to agree on the reopening and traffic flow of the Strait of Hormuz and secure a lasting ceasefire in the West Asia region, Reuters reported.

“The denuclearisation of Iran is moving along well. They’ve had very good meetings, and we’ll see,” Trump told reporters before boarding Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday.
The US President added, “We hit them very hard for three nights, but we are getting along very well.”
The US delegation in Doha includes Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff who met Qatar’s prime minister – a mediator in negotiations along with Pakistan- to lay the groundwork for talks ahead but, a source told Reuters that they would not be attending the negotiations themselves.
Qatar on Wednesday acknowledged a meeting between the US delegation and its foreign minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said the men talked about the interim deal “along with the efforts aimed at promoting security and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomacy,” AP reported.
Iran and United States had agreed as part of the interim deal last month to allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days, but Tehran has reiterated its demand that it should control the traffic in the strategic waterway and charge fees for passage that would change the decades old practice in the region.
