Some of Europe’s biggest futsal clubs will return to the Algarve this summer for the eighth edition of the Record International Masters Futsal, with Portimão once again hosting one of the sport’s leading pre-season tournaments.
The competition will take place at the Portimão Arena on August 29 and 30, bringing together four of the continent’s top teams: Sporting CP, reigning European champions and defending Masters title holders; Benfica, the newly crowned Portuguese champions; Palma Futsal, European runners-up; and Jimbee Cartagena, former back-to-back Spanish champions.
“The presence of these clubs confirms the Record International Masters Futsal’s status as the most important pre-season tournament on the international calendar, bringing to the Algarve some of the best players and teams in the world,” organisers say in a statement.
Portimão will also host the second edition of the Youth Masters Futsal between August 26 and 29, giving young players the opportunity to compete on the same stage as some of the sport’s leading teams.
Organisers said details of the youth tournament, including participating teams and the match schedule, will be announced closer to the event.
With two international competitions taking place over the same week, Portimão is once again set to become a focal point for the futsal world at the end of August.
