Karlie Kloss Gives Birth, Welcomes Baby No. 3 With Husband Joshua Kushner
Karlie Kloss is modeling nonpartisanship.
Although her marriage to Joshua Kushner, whose brother Jared Kushner is married to President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, has inadvertently led to her inclusion in political discourse, she's admitted that she’s learned how to navigate family relationships during such a politically charged time.
“Well, I know who I am,” the model told Bloomberg Originals in an interview published July 1. “I know the values that guide my life and the issues that I care about. So, you know, I haven’t lost sight of who I am, but also, it’s my husband’s family.”
As for whether she and the president have ever discussed politics, Karlie revealed, “I have never met President Trump.”
But when she and Joshua do get together with the rest of her brother-in-law’s family, the 33-year-old—who grew up in Missouri—noted she’s already accustomed to navigating potentially rocky waters.
“We’re sitting here in St. Louis, which is a blue dot in a red state,” she reflected. “Since as long as I can remember, I’ve always been exposed to a lot of different political points of view, and I think that trained me for my life. You know, I’m a Democrat.”
She continued, “I think it’s possible to have relationships with people who you politically don’t align with. And I think this country has always been a place for dialogue. We have to be able to talk to each other.”
And she’s speaking from experience. After all, Karlie eventually converted to Judaism during her relationship with Joshua after having discussions early on in their romance about faith.
“I fell in love with somebody whose faith was a huge part of who he is,” she said. “And I knew that from the start and choosing that I wanted that in my life. I’m really proud of that choice.”

While Karlie, 33, and Josh, 41, tied the knot in 2018—and in the years since have welcomed kids Levi, 5, Elijah, 2, and Rae, 9 months—their relationship goes back much further. In fact, the pair’s bond is so deep that it’s made becoming a mom to three a breeze.
“We’ve been together since I was 19,” Karlie explained during the May 20 episode of Emma Grede’s Aspire podcast. “We’ve grown up together. He’s always been my biggest champion, especially in this adjustment into motherhood. He’s been somebody who’s like, ‘Karlie, you cannot lose yourself. You will not be happy and then our children will feel that.’”
And though the Klossy founder admitted she’d never expected to meet “the love of my life” before she even turned 20, their many years together have prepared them for anything.
Because we met so young, we’ve been through so much together and really grown together. I think that’s also part of why our partnership is so solid.”
