The Christian movie industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of gospel film actor Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, popularly known for portraying Flora’s husband in the acclaimed Mount Zion film series, Abattoir.
Oyeyemi’s death was announced by the Bowen University Alumni Association in an Instagram post on Tuesday. While the association did not disclose the cause of his death, it described him as a cherished alumnus and drama minister whose life impacted many.
“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing and burial of one of our esteemed alumni, Mr. Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, Gomobzzzz, a proud member of the Viable Set and BBSF Drama Unit, who recently went to be with the Lord,” the statement read.

Beyond his memorable role in Abattoir, Oyeyemi featured prominently in several Mount Zion Faith Ministries productions, including Fiwajomi, Seyifunmi, Olukoya and Finding Grace. Over the years, he became known among Christian movie lovers for portraying faith-driven characters and using drama as a tool for evangelism.
His death has also renewed conversations about the series of losses suffered by the Abattoir family in recent years.
In February 2025, actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who played Flora, Oyeyemi’s on-screen wife in Abattoir, died from complications arising from injuries she sustained in a road crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 26, 2024. The accident also claimed the life of one of her two-year-old twin daughters.
Following her death, tributes poured in from the Christian film community, including Mount Zion founder, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, and filmmaker Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, who described her passing as a painful loss to the ministry and the gospel film industry.
Oyeyemi’s death also comes after the passing of another Abattoir cast member, Moses Korede Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, who died in 2024.
The latest development means three actors associated with the widely watched gospel series have died within the past two years, leaving colleagues, fans and members of the Christian film industry mourning yet another loss.
