The Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN Niger) has achieved a historic milestone in African higher education after emerging as the highest-ranked university in the Republic of Niger in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.
The latest rankings place MAAUN Niger first in Niger Republic, 14th among African private universities, and within the 801–1000 global band, underscoring the institution’s growing international reputation and commitment to academic excellence, research, and sustainable development.
The achievement marks a significant moment for Niger Republic, as MAAUN Niger continues to position the country on the global higher education map through its inclusion in one of the world’s most respected university ranking systems.

Through its Colleges of Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Sciences, Public Health, and other allied health programmes, MAAUN Niger has produced thousands of highly skilled professionals who are contributing meaningfully to healthcare delivery within Niger Republic and across different parts of the world.
