The Chairman of the Ojodu Local Council Development Area, David Odunmbaku, has launched the Federal Government’s PBAT FEEDS school feeding programme, targeting 500 pupils of Ojodu Primary School.
This was contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Odunmbaku, Ayodele Olalere, on Wednesday.
Olalere stated that the initiative, tagged ‘Adopt A School – Snacks for Thought PBAT FEEDS’, was being implemented under the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme in partnership with the private sector.
He noted that the launch in Ojodu coincided with the statewide rollout by the Lagos State Government, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu flagged off the programme at Lagos Island East Local Government, while chairmen of the state’s 57 local governments and LCDAs simultaneously commenced implementation in their respective councils.
According to him, the programme was expected to provide snacks to 500 pupils in one primary school within each council area for three days, with about 30,000 pupils targeted across Lagos State.
Represented by the Supervisory Councillor for Education, Damilola Fayoyin, Odunmbaku described the initiative as a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of schoolchildren.
He said, “Today, we celebrate a meaningful initiative that reflects our commitment to the health and education of our pupils. The PBAT School Feeds Project is an investment in the future of our children, ensuring they are well-nourished and ready to learn.
“This initiative reflects our collective commitment to improving the health, well-being, and learning outcomes of our pupils through proper nutrition.
“We appreciate the Federal Government, Lagos State Government, Conference 57, Ojodu LCDA, and all partners for making this programme a reality. Together, we are building a brighter future for every child.”

He urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the programme by remaining committed to their education.
“I encourage our pupils to make the most of this opportunity by remaining focused on their studies and striving for excellence,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the National Programme Manager, Kikelomo Alamu said the initiative was designed to ensure that every Nigerian child had access to nutritious meals that would support learning and healthy development.
She said, “The initiative by President Bola Tinubu is to create a country where every child has access to nutritious food that supports learning, healthy development and lifelong success through a sustainable partnership between government, communities, development partners and the private sector.
“A child who eats well learns better. A child who learns better becomes a productive citizen, which is why feeding children is not simply a welfare programme. It is an investment in human capital. It is an investment in national development.”
According to her, about 30,000 pupils across Lagos State will benefit from the programme over the three-day exercise.
She appealed to corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative.
She said, “When we invest in our children, we invest in our nation.”
The pupils, in their remarks, thanked the President for the initiative and prayed for the success of his administration and the country.
