The Lagos State Waterways Authority has entered into a strategic partnership with the Apollo Africa Leadership Foundation to foster leadership development, empowerment, community engagement, and sustainability among young Nigerians.
According to a statement on Monday, the partnership was formalised recently during a visit by representatives of the Apollo Africa Leadership Foundation to the LASWA headquarters, where both organisations explored areas of mutual interest and opportunities for collaboration.
Speaking during the meeting, the General Manager of LASWA and Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Blue Economy, Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, emphasised the importance of partnerships in driving innovation and sustainable development across various sectors of the economy through youth involvement.
“The growth of the blue economy requires visionary leadership, community participation, and strategic partnerships. We are pleased to collaborate with the Apollo Africa Leadership Foundation in promoting leadership excellence, capacity development, and initiatives that will positively impact waterfront communities and stakeholders within the waterways sector,” Emmanuel said.
He added that the partnership is expected to focus on leadership training programmes, youth development initiatives, community outreach activities, environmental sustainability advocacy, and knowledge-sharing engagements designed to strengthen the human capital needed to support Lagos State’s emerging blue economy.

The collaboration aligns with the Lagos State Government’s vision of leveraging the blue economy to catalyse economic growth, job creation, environmental stewardship, and an improved quality of life for residents. Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to developing impactful programmes that will empower young leaders and promote safety and sustainability.
