Mariel Padilla attended the second day of the Iglesia ni Cristo-led rally at the Edsa People Power Monument in White Plains, Quezon City, expressing support to the religious group and to Sen. Rodante Marcoleta on behalf of her senator husband Robin Padilla.
The TV host-actress was all-smiles as she interacted with the protesters, as seen in the photos she shared on her Facebook page on Wednesday, July 1.
“We are one!” she exclaimed in the caption. “Robin really, really wanted to be there but couldn’t make it. He rarely asks me to represent him because he usually doesn’t involve me when it comes to politics. But this was a very special case, so he asked me to go on his behalf.”

“Una po sa lahat, nandito po ako ngayon para makiisa sa inyong lahat… Nandito rin po ako para iparating din ang mensahe ng aking asawa dahil hindi rin po niya kayang manahimik. (First of all, I am here today to stand in solidarity with all of you. I am also here to deliver my husband’s message because he, too, can no longer remain silent. I am here to let everyone who loves and cares for Senator Rodante Marcoleta know that you are not alone. I stand with you. We are one!)
Mariel also echoed her husband’s call for continued support for Marcoleta who, they said, is seeking accountability for the corruption in the government.
Marcoleta is facing arrest in connection with a a plunder case before the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the campaign donations he received worth P75 million. Plunder is a non-bailable offense.
