MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the agency was now coordinating with its foreign counterparts to track down the group that allegedly influenced the minor suspects in the fatal Tacloban City school shooting.
“The service and protection that we in the PNP have committed to provide extend beyond our streets and communities. We are now giving equal focus on cyberspace through close monitoring and intense cyber patrolling,” Nartatez maintained in a statement on Thursday.
“The PNP will coordinate with foreign law enforcement agencies to determine the extent of the group’s operations and identify the individuals behind it,” he said.

“Our personnel will also look into the possible involvement of Filipinos in this group as well as their supposed target victims,” the PNP chief noted.
This came after Senate committee on women and children chairperson Sen. Risa Hontiveros claimed that “764,” a supposed “online nihilistic violent extremist” group that influences popular gaming platforms to influence minors, had influenced the Tacloban City shooting incident.
The minor suspects opened fire at the San Jose National High School in Tacloban City last June 22, killing three students and injuring 20 more.
The PNP earlier said the minor suspects had allegedly been influenced by the game, GoreBox.
