Ryan Seacrest Clarifies If He's Really on Tinder After Wheel of Fortune Comment
World Cup 2026 has become a goal-den opportunity for online dating.
In fact, Tinder usage has kicked into high gear in host cities in the United States, with the dating app seeing nearly a 60 percent increase in matches compared to this time last year, according to internal data reported by Mashable.
What's more, the data suggests folks are more open to Messi-ng around on the app during the soccer tournament. In terms of net gains, there's been a 15 percent increase in users and around a 25 percent increase in Swipe activity, per the outlet.
Tinder users in Mexico and Canada are also having a ball, with data showing an average 47 percent increase among international users in cities that are hosting games. According to Mashable, some of the strongest activity jumps include an incredible 80 percent increase in user activity around the Sweden vs. Tunisia game in Monterrey, Mexico, on June 14.
Likewise, there was a 74 percent increase in Guadalajara around the June 11 contest, which saw South Korea win over Czechia with a 2-1 score.
And even though some bars in Boston ran dry due to the influx of beer-drinking travelers, there was plenty of love in the air as Tinder saw a 47 percent increase around the Iraq vs. Norway matchup on June 16.
But don't expect to swipe right on a World Cup player. After all, many soccer superstars brought their wives or girlfriends—a.k.a. WAGs—to the sporting event.
