
Cebu City, Philippines —(UPDATED 12:55 PM) Authorities are responding to a reported threat of a school shooting at a private university along Dimasalang Street corner Leon Kilat, Cebu City, on Thursday, July 2.
According to the police, the school shooting threat originated from a social media group post.
An incident report from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) said authorities received information regarding a reported bomb threat at around 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Further assessment by the CCDRRMO showed that the reported incident was actually a shooting threat made via a Facebook post directed at the school.
Emergency responders initiated security measures, coordinated with school administrators, and conducted threat assessment procedures to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the school.
As of this posting, students already returned to the campus but police remain in the vicinity for further investigation and verification.
The CCDRRMO said Investigation is ongoing to determine the source and credibility of the shooting threat made on social media. (With a report from chief of reporters Pia Piquero)
