The Paramount ruler of Ekinrin-Adde Community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, His Royal Majesty(HRM), Olu Anthony Bamigbaiye(CON) has expressed concern over fragile security bedevilling communities in the country.
The Royal Father disclosed this yesterday at the 2026 Ekinrin-Adde Day Cultural Festival ceremony to newsmen at Ekirin-Adde while marking the 33rd edition of the festival .
Oba Bamigbaiye noted that the insecurity incidents had affected socio-cultural and economic activities, as fears had gripped the residents of communities due to its impacts .
He stressed that the situation needs unity of purpose of. all to tackle the prevailing security challenges , noting that there can be no development in any community in this nation without peace.
His Royal Majesty Olu added that the yearly cultural celebration brings indigenes within the community, state and outside the country ,including those in diaspora together to thank God, and mobilize resources to complement the efforts of the government in an attempt to develop the community .
“Fear of Insecurity has kept many indigenes away from the 2026 edition of our cultural celebration that has been a unifying factor “, he said .
The monarch praised president Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu for his move to establish state police to curb insecurity in the land ; even as he commended the Kogi State Government for its direct response to recent attacks in Iluke community , expressing hope that insecurity will soon be a thing of the past.
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of this year’s edition, Prince Babajide Kolade-Otitoju says the annual cultural festival is aimed at the fulfilling cultural and tourism potentials of the country.
Chief Kolade -Otitoju, an ace journalist who anchors popular programme: “Journalist hangout” at TVC Television stated that apart from celebrating the culture and tradition of Ekinrin- Adde people, the event offers opportunity to honour friends of the community who have supported and excelled in different fields of humanity.
Chief Otitoju who was honored with the Prestigious Ekirin-Adde Grand Star Award in the 2026 edition for his outstanding service to his community described the recognition as one of the greatest honours of his life.
“Iam deeply honoured by this recognition. This award will remain one of the greatest moments of my life, and it will inspire me to do even more for my community”, he said.
He commended the national president of the Ekirin-Adde Association, the traditional institution, and all sons and daughters of the community for their unwavering support and encouragement, which, he claimed have continues to spur him to champion initiatives that promote development of his community .
However, Chief Otitoju appealed to friends and well-wishers to support the community’s ongoing N750 million development projects, noting that the initiative is aimed at addressing critical infrastructure deficits.
According to him, the appeal fund is expected to address pressing challenges facing the community,including poor road infrastructure, inadequate educational facilities and shortage of teachers ,among others.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has praised unity of purpose of the people of Ekinrin Adde, aimed at promoting community development effort.
Governor Ododo who was represented by his deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo commended them for their unwavering unity, cultural pride and commitment to community development, saying the launch of N750 million Infrastructure Development Fund remains a credible move to develop the community.
The governor therefore urged the Ekirin-Adde people to continue promoting unity , peace, hard work and mutual respect, describing the move as the pillars of lasting development.
The highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of two 18-seater buses donated to the community by Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke and presentation of awards to friends of the community, including Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum, Governor of Ekiti state , Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji , Hon.James Faleke and Prince Olatunji Olusoji, the chairman of the occasion and several others.
