MANILA, Philippines — A retired rear admiral may face “grave coercion” charges for pointing a firearm at a driver who parked in front of his property, Mandaluyong Police chief, PCol. Reynan Patam said on Thursday.
The possible charges were revealed in a Senate panel hearing after a viral video of retired Navy Rear Admiral Ramon Punzalan cocking a gun and cursing at the driver.
Asked by panel head Sen. Raffy Tulfo if Punzalan will face charges, Patam answered that they’re looking at grave coercion raps.

Patam also detailed that Punzalan’s firearm is unlicensed.
“We have requested from RCSU NCR (Regional Civil Security Unit National Capital Region) and initially, sir, General Punzalan does not have an LTOPF (License to Own and Possess Firearms) and he does not have any firearms recorded,” Patam said.
He continued: “We’re doing case buildup for the illegal possession of firearms.”
Punzalan is formerly the chairman and CEO of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. He graduated from the academy in 1976. /mr
