Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto hosted Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace on Thursday for high-level talks aimed at expanding strategic bilateral cooperation.
Lukashenko arrived at the palace courtyard at approximately 11:23 a.m. local time, his motorcade escorted by a ceremonial 17-motorcycle guard and an 80-member cavalry unit from Indonesia’s Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres).
Upon arrival, the Belarusian leader was honored with the traditional Enggang dance from East Kalimantan before Prabowo personally welcomed him at his vehicle.
The two heads of state stood for the national anthems of Indonesia and Belarus before Prabowo invited his guest to inspect the guard of honor.
Prabowo then introduced the Indonesian delegation of senior officials, which included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani.
Also present were Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Culture Minister Fadli Zon, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Following the introductions, the two leaders proceeded to a closed-door, one-on-one meeting in Prabowo’s office.
Lukashenko’s visit to Jakarta follows Prabowo’s official trip to Belarus on July 15, 2025.
This marks Lukashenko's second state visit to Indonesia, following his initial trip in 2013.
A central highlight of the Jakarta summit will be the launch of the Road Map for Bilateral Cooperation 2026–2030, a comprehensive blueprint designed to expand partnerships across key sectors, including the economy, agriculture, food security, culture, science, and technology.
Belarus, a key member state of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), has become an increasingly vital partner for Jakarta in the region.
Economic ties between the two nations were further solidified following the signing of the Indonesia-EAEU Free Trade Agreement in December 2025.
