
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – The Department of Education Schools Division of Zamboanga City (DepEd-Zamboanga) has urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information about the stabbing incident involving three learners at Cabaluay National High School on Wednesday.
In a statement, DepEd-Zamboanga said the school administration immediately took action to ensure the safety and security of students and personnel.

“Assistance was extended to those involved, while coordination with authorities and stakeholders was undertaken,” it said.

The statement also pointed out that the division office is closely monitoring the situation and working with school administrators to provide interventions, including support services for affected learners and the school community.
DepEd-Zamboanga reiterated its commitment to maintaining safe and child-friendly learning environments in all public schools, stressing that child protection programs and safety measures are being strengthened to prevent similar incidents.
The division urged the public to allow proper investigation to proceed and to refrain from spreading unverified information.
“Let us continue to support our schools in promoting a culture of respect, understanding, and care for all learners,” the statement read.

At around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, two students were wounded after they were allegedly stabbed by another student inside the Cabaluay National High School.
The suspect was a 17-year-old Grade 11 student, and the victims were both 16 years old.

All three are residents of Barangay Cabaluay, Zamboanga City.
Lester Siason, chairperson of Barangay Cabaluay, reported the incident to the Zamboanga City Police Station 3 (ZCPS-3), prompting operatives to respond immediately.
