
MANILA, Philippines — More than 2,000 individuals attended the third day of the rally led by Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) at Liwasang Bonifacio, the Manila Police District (MPD) said on Thursday afternoon.
According to the data provided by the MPD, approximately 2,200 attendees were recorded as of 2 p.m. The attendance grew to 200 from the police’s figure of 1 p.m. of 2,000.

“”Personnel from the Manila Local Government Unit (LGU), the Manila Police District, and other concerned agencies are on standby to ensure order, public safety, and the smooth flow of people and vehicles in the area,” the Manila Public Information Office said in a separate advisory.

The religious sector held the first two days of the protest at the People Power Monument along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue in Quezon City. The location was transferred to the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila following the Quezon City LGU’s revocation of their permit to hold a rally at the monument.
As it mounted a surprise rally at the monument last Tuesday, the INC said it was to express support for Sen. Rodante Marcoleta who is facing imminent plunder charges by the Office of the Ombudsman.
The religious sector slammed what it described as the “selective justice” and “distortion of law” in Marcoleta’s case, which stemmed from his non-declaration of P75 million campaign contributions he received from three donors, including former Rep. Mike Defensor. /mr
