MANILA, Philippines – Metro Pacific Water (MPW), a unit of Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Investments Corp., said Thursday it had improved water supply for over 3,500 households in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, by repairing critical pipelines.
Since taking over the operations last June 5, the company said it has so far repaired 29 pipeline leaks out of more than 200 reported leaks left by the previous water provider.

Another 1,386 households in Phase 5, Towerville, Minuyan benefited from improved water supply following the repair of a major transmission-line leak.
“The results of the initial repairs are encouraging, but we recognize that restoring the distribution network will take time,” MPW president and CEO Andrew Pangilinan said in a statement Thursday.
“These problems accumulated over nearly a decade, and addressing them will require sustained work. Nevertheless, the repairs completed so far represent a significant first step,” he added.

Last month, MWP was tapped by the city government of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, as the interim operator of its water distribution operations.
Under the initial two-month consultancy deal, the company would also conduct a technical and operational assessment of the system’s current condition. /pai INQ
