Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) partner with 12,420 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as farmer groups, livestock breeders, fishers, and cooperatives, to bolster national food security while improving public welfare.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the initiative focuses on developing independent food production facilities, including greenhouses, biofloc fish ponds, and livestock farms, and integrated supply warehouses.
"Through these measures, we are building a supply chain ecosystem involving 12,420 MSMEs, including farmer groups, livestock breeders, fishers, and cooperatives, to help improve the welfare of local businesses," Listyo stated here on Wednesday.
In addition to securing food supply chains, the Police is supporting the government's flagship Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program by establishing Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) in various regions.
Listyo expressed hope that the facilities can expand public access to nutritious meals and improve overall health outcomes.
Polri is also taking part in rural infrastructure development by constructing 775 Red and White Presisi bridges across the archipelago to improve connectivity.
To date, 711 bridges have been completed, while the remaining 64 are targeted for completion in July 2026.
He said the wide-ranging initiatives reflect the institution's broader contribution to Indonesia's national development agenda, as the institution moves beyond its traditional mandate of maintaining security and public order to help strengthen food security, enhance regional connectivity, and empower local economies.
"The widespread development of these SPPGs and bridges has delivered tangible benefits to the community. The meal program improves health outcomes through better access to nutritious food, while the new bridges connect communities to essential public facilities such as schools, hospitals, and other priority services," Listyo said.
