
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The governments of Indonesia and Belarus agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation across several strategic sectors, including modern agriculture, manufacturing and food security.
The commitment was formalized through the launch of the Indonesia-Belarus 2026–2030 Roadmap for Strengthening Cooperation, during a bilateral meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.
"In the area of food security, we are determined to continue enhancing cooperation. Indonesia and Belarus have complementary strengths to expand cooperation in modern agriculture, fertilizers, agricultural equipment and technology, and heavy equipment," President Prabowo stated in a joint press statement.
According to the President, the five-year roadmap will serve as a comprehensive framework for developing and broadening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Economically, both nations agreed to expand cooperation in support of their respective national development agendas—with a focus on industrial growth, agricultural modernization, supply chain resilience and technological integration.
President Prabowo further expressed appreciation to the Belarusian government for its ratification of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement. He added that Indonesia is currently finalizing its own domestic ratification process.
"In the industrial sector, we see significant opportunities to increase investment and establish joint ventures between businesses in both countries—particularly in the manufacturing, automotive, heavy vehicle and agro-industry," Prabowo remarked.
In addition to economic and industrial ties, the two countries are expand collaboration in socio-cultural fields and human resource development through cultural exchanges and institutional partnerships in education and vocational training. The high-level meeting concluded with the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) covering partnerships in healthcare, national accreditation, financial transaction reporting, science and technology and financial services.
