Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina said it is ready to distribute B50 biodiesel ahead of the program's scheduled launch by President Prabowo Subianto.
"Pertamina is ready, in terms of infrastructure, to distribute B50," Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron said on the sidelines of the Kick Off and Coaching Clinic for the 2026 Pertamina Journalism Awards here on Thursday.
Baron said Pertamina's infrastructure in Java is the most prepared to implement the B50 program.
"In fact, the facilities across Java are the most ready," he said.
Regarding the implementation of B50, Baron said Pertamina is still coordinating with the government. President Prabowo is scheduled to launch the B50 program in early July 2026.
He added that Pertamina has been given a three-month transition period to switch from B40 to B50 during the distribution process.
Based on the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister's Decree on the mandatory blending of 50-percent biodiesel with diesel fuel, a transition period has been provided for fuel business entities that still hold B40 stocks.
Companies that still have B40 inventories are allowed to distribute the fuel until September 30, 2026, provided it complies with the applicable standards and specifications.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said all sectors are ready to implement the mandatory B50 policy ahead of its official launch by President Prabowo, which is scheduled for July 2026.
Prabowo has said the implementation of B50 would generate significant savings.
"I estimate that within three years, or at most four years, we will achieve energy self-sufficiency. We do not want to import any fuel or energy," he stated.
