Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Belarus on Thursday signed seven priority cooperation agreements covering industry, health, finance, research, and culture, as President Prabowo Subianto and Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko moved to deepen bilateral ties.
The agreements were formalized through a series of memorandums of understanding (MoUs), cooperation agreements, and the Roadmap for the Development of Priority Areas of Cooperation between Indonesia and Belarus for 2026–2030. The documents were signed by officials from both countries at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta and witnessed by the two presidents.
President Prabowo said the agreements reflected both governments' commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding practical cooperation across strategic sectors.
"Indonesia and Belarus' commitment to strengthening bilateral relations is also demonstrated today through the agreement on a number of cooperation documents by the delegations of both countries," Prabowo said.
The cooperation package includes an agreement between Indonesia's Ministry of Industry and Belarus' Ministry of Industry, a cultural cooperation agreement between the two countries' culture ministries, and a financial cooperation agreement between Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the National Bank of Belarus.
The two sides also signed a health cooperation agreement between Indonesia's Ministry of Health and Belarus' Ministry of Health, along with a scientific and technical cooperation agreement between Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Another agreement provides for the exchange of financial intelligence between Indonesia's Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and Belarus' Financial Monitoring Department under the State Control Committee to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
In addition, Indonesia's National Accreditation Committee and the Republican Unitary Enterprise Belarusian State Center for Accreditation signed a cooperation agreement on national accreditation.
The two governments also adopted the Roadmap for the Development of Priority Areas of Cooperation between Indonesia and Belarus for 2026-2030, providing a framework for expanding bilateral collaboration across key sectors over the next five years.
The agreements are intended to strengthen economic growth, promote innovation, enhance human resource capacity, and further the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Belarus.
"I hope these cooperation agreements can be implemented immediately so they provide tangible benefits for both countries in the near future," Prabowo said.
