Motorists are being advised to plan ahead after Infrastructure Malta announced a series of overnight closures affecting four major tunnels throughout July.
The maintenance works will take place between 10pm and 5am, with one tunnel bore closing completely while the other will operate in both directions to keep traffic flowing.
The closures will affect the Tal-Qroqq, St Julian’s, Santa Venera and Kirkop tunnels on different dates across the month.
The Tal-Qroqq tunnels will be impacted from 6th July to 30th July, with works taking place on weekdays only. The tunnels will remain open on Fridays and weekends. During the closures, motorists will be diverted through the skatepark and Birkirkara bypass.
Meanwhile, the St Julian’s tunnels will be partially closed on 6th, 7th, 20th and 21st July.
The Santa Venera tunnels will be affected on 8th, 9th, 22nd and 23rd July, while the Kirkop tunnels will see partial closures on 15th, 16th, 29th and 30th July.
Infrastructure Malta said the works are being carried out as part of scheduled maintenance and apologised for any inconvenience, urging motorists to plan their journeys accordingly.
