Jakarta (ANTARA) - Belarus prioritizes cooperation in the food security sector with Indonesia to help achieve technological independence and industrial diversification, eliminating dependence on any particular country.
"I believe in the need for cooperation in food security, enabling each country to be independent in meeting the needs of its own people," Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko said during a press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.
Lukashenko then underlined his country's commitment and readiness to contribute to Indonesia's efforts to address the food crisis.
As a concrete step, the country is ready to supply larger volumes of fertilizer, agricultural equipment, and various agricultural techniques.
Beyond trade, Belarus also offered technology transfer through training for Indonesian workers directly at its leading manufacturing plants.
"We are ready to train thousands of Indonesians in the technical field," Lukashenko noted.
Besides his willingness to open joint ventures in the tire, dairy, and meat industries, Lukashenko emphasized the importance of self-reliance for a large country like Indonesia.
Through this collaboration, Indonesia is expected to be able to produce the maximum amount of national needs using its own technology to achieve economic sovereignty.
The president also expressed confidence that Indonesia's economy would continue to strengthen, highlighting the significant progress the country has made since his first visit 13 years ago.
“Recalling my first visit in 2013, I stand witness to how rapidly this beautiful country has developed. I am convinced that the economy will continue to grow,” he said.
His statement is in line with the data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) showing the economy grew 5.61 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, marking the strongest quarterly expansion in more than three years.
