Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education plans to install an additional 800,000 interactive flat panels (IFPs) in schools nationwide this year as part of the government's school digitalization initiative.
"We will add 800,000 IFPs for educational institutions across Indonesia this year," Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti said while inaugurating the revitalization program at State Junior High School (SMPN) 9 Pangkalpinang on Thursday.
Mu'ti said President Prabowo Subianto had instructed the ministry to accelerate school revitalization and digitalization programs as part of the government's commitment to providing quality education for all and creating safe and conducive learning environments.
The ministry distributed 288,865 interactive flat panels to schools across the country in 2025 as part of the implementation of the president's directive to improve the quality of education nationwide.
"This year, we will provide three additional interactive flat panels for each educational institution, bringing the total to around 800,000 IFPs for schools across Indonesia," he said.
Mu'ti acknowledged that the plan to expand the use of interactive digital panels had raised concerns, particularly over the additional electricity demand at schools.
He said the ministry had partnered with state-owned electricity provider PLN to increase schools' power capacity at no cost, while operational expenses could be covered through the School Operational Assistance (BOS) fund.
"All schools receive BOS funding, which can be used to operate these interactive digital panels," he said.
The minister added that the government would also provide training for teachers to ensure they are able to make effective use of the new digital learning equipment.
"We are not only distributing interactive flat panels, but also training teachers so they can utilize the technology to its fullest potential," he said.
