Ready to set up new commission, give Rai new president

The centre-right government members of

the parliamentary oversight commission for state broadcaster Rai

quit Thursday after the centre-left opposition members resigned

citing government interference in the broadcaster.

The government members called the opposition ones

"irresponsible" and said Rai had been "occupied, taken prisoner

and instrumentalised" for years by the Left.

They said they were ready to set up a new commission and give

Rai a new president swiftly.
