Lilo & Stitch Star Daveigh Chase's Cause of Death Revealed
Jim McLean is working his way out of the bunker.
The former pro golfer, who toured with the PGA for two years before pivoting to running his own golf training programs, shared that he is on the up and up after being pronounced dead twice in May.
“To all my friends,” McLean wrote in a note on social media June 27, “I’m sorry I have not gotten back to you. Here is the brief story. I arrived in an ambulance on May 26. I was pronounced dead twice—from diverticulitis—where the colon is punctured.”
Indeed, diverticulitis is a condition that inflames one’s colon and can lead to serious infection or sepsis if left untreated.
And while McLean did not give insight into the specifics of his condition amid his hospital stay, he did share insight into his inner circle—including his sons Matt McLean and Jon McLean—supporting him.
“I had my phone off for over three weeks, then I answered a few texts,” McLean continued. “From the beginning, my boys flew down to be with me, also a few close friends, my brother Tom stayed for 11 days. Other friends flew in to be at bedside.”
The 76-year-old went on to highlight his wife’s dedication to his healing.
“My wife, Amparo, has been with me 24/7,” he added. “She has been my rock. She sleeps in a chair, in the hospital, next to me.”
And McLean emphasized that he’s getting closer to par.
“I’m working on getting back to full health,” he added. “I’ll be transferring to PT hospital by the end of next week. Thanks to all of you for the positive notes.”

Naturally, McLean’s comments were flooded with support.
“You’ve got at least nine lives in you,” McLean’s fellow golf instructor Mike Bury wrote in a comment. “You just used two of them at once. There’s still a lot of meat left on the bone. Thinking about you and your family. You’re tough as nails, mate!”
Meanwhile, golf instructor Sean Foley added, “You will be back on the range in no time my friend.”
