Chloe Bailey opens up about her sister Halle Bailey

Chloe Bailey is reflecting on the ungodly scrutiny she’s faced with her sister.

Indeed, Chloe, 28—who is one half of the duo Chloe x Halle—recently recalled when the public started to pit her against her sister and bandmate Halle Bailey.

“I think after ‘Best Thing I Never Had' came out, our very first cover,” Chloe recalled to Alex Cooper on the July 1 episode of Call Her Daddy, “and we got posted on World Star.”

After Alex noted that the comments under the entertainment page are often “lethal,” the “Forgive Me” artist agreed, addressing some of the misconceptions that people have about her and Halle.

“The thing that people don't realize with sis and I is that we are so different,” Chloe continued. “She grew up loving jazz. She still does. Jazz, neo soul, you know, the vibes. She plays guitar, very boho. Me? I love the pop, lock and drop it. The heavy drums.”

But while they might wonder what people think of them, Chloe and Halle refuse to ask for forgiveness, as their eclectic interests are what makes their joint musical projects so special.

“That is what the beauty of Chloe x Halle is because we're bringing two different sides of ourselves,” the “Wonder What She Thinks of Me” singer continued. “But I think people wanted to see either all of this side from both of us or all of this side from both of us. And you can never please everybody.”

Still, the sisters occasionally feel overwhelmed by the criticism. Luckily, they can lean on each other whenever they’re feeling lonely.

“It hurts us sometimes, like when we'd see certain comments like Halle and I, we'd talk to each other like, ‘Oh my gosh, is this true about me?’” Chloe continued. “And then she'll say, ‘Is this true about me?’ And we'd be like, ‘No, it's not.’ And it's like we'd have to uplift each other.”

Nowadays—as they’ve pursued solo careers and other creative endeavors outside of Chloe x Halle—the kids are alright, having gotten used to tuning out the negative comments.

“Even today, they'll say I do too much or my sister does the opposite or things like that," Chloe concluded. “But that's the beauty of us. We're like fire and water.”
