Hunter Biden, the son of former President Biden, ribbed President Trump on Thursday, saying he is nominating the president for the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the war in Iran.
“I am officially nominating Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Hunter Biden wrote on social platform X. “No President in History has ended the same war so many times.”
Last year, Trump unsuccessfully vouched for himself to receive the Nobel Peace Prize — which only two sitting U.S. presidents have won, Woodrow Wilson in 1920 and Barack Obama in 2009.
The recipient of the award, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, presented her medal to Trump after U.S. forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in January.
The former president’s son noted Trump has “ended the war with Iran at least 38 times,” according to a tally released by CNN last month.
“No President has ever done this before,” Hunter Biden added. “And he is nowhere near finished ending it. It’s a record worthy of the Nobel committee’s recognition.”
He also signed off with, “Thank you for your attention to this matter!” using Trump’s signature phrase.
Since his father departed the White House, Hunter Biden has become a social media provocateur, needling Republicans and poking fun at himself over his past struggles with drug addiction.
Before clearing the way for Trump, the former president pardoned his son, who was found guilty in 2024 on three federal charges relating to his purchase and possession of a gun in 2018 while he was using drugs.
On Sunday, the Trump administration and Iran agreed to resume peace talks amid renewed fighting, thereby allowing ships to transit the Strait of Hormuz. But Vice President Vance said Wednesday the U.S. could resume the war.
“If we’ve got to do more, of course, that’s kind of up to the Iranians. If they try to rebuild their nuclear program, if they try to start shooting at commercial vessels again, that’s going to change our calculus,” Vance told reporters after speaking at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va.
