
VANCOUVER – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney witnessed Thursday (Canada time) the signing of four key agreements aimed at strengthening energy, labor, tourism, and cultural cooperation between Manila and Ottawa.
The signing ceremony took place at the Vancouver Convention Centre following the two leaders’ bilateral meeting.

The two nations signed a Joint Declaration of Intent concerning energy and natural resources.

Also signed was a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on tourism cooperation, and another MOU on cultural cooperation for 2026 to 2031.
A Joint Declaration of Intent concerning labor and migration cooperation was also inked.
The agreements are expected to deepen collaboration in energy and natural resources, tourism, labor and migration, and cultural exchanges.
“I am glad to have witnessed today the signing of bilateral understandings and declaration of cooperation in the areas of tourism, culture, and labor and migration,” Marcos said.

“These agreements will help us harness our strong people-to-people ties between our two countries as we jointly build capacities and create a mutually beneficial talent pipeline for the future,” he added.

The signing reflects the sustained Philippine and Canada’s commitment to further strengthening their long-standing bilateral relations while creating new opportunities for economic growth, people-to-people exchanges, and sustainable development. /dp
