Here are four Cebu festivals happening in the latter part of July:
Banig Festival – Badian (July 25)
The municipality of Badian celebrates the Banig Festival every July 25 as part of its town fiesta in honor of Saint James the Apostle.
The festival pays tribute to the town’s tradition of weaving banig, or handwoven mats, which have long been a source of livelihood for local artisans.
This year, several events have been prepared for the fiesta of the town of Badian such as a pickleball tournament and a music festival.
Badian is also known for its natural attractions, including its waterfalls, beaches, and nearby canyoneering destinations.
Panagsogod Festival – Sogod (July 25)
Also celebrated on July 25 is the Panagsogod Festival in the municipality of Sogod.
The festival reflects the town’s heritage, culture, and resilience through colorful street dances and presentations that showcase local stories and traditions.
Held alongside the town fiesta, the celebration brings together residents, balikbayans, and tourists for a day of thanksgiving, music, and cultural pride.
Several events are also in order for this year, including a marathon and badminton tournament.
Pista sa Compostela – Compostela (July 25)
Compostela in northeastern Cebu draws its name from the world heritage and holy city of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain, the terminal point of the Camino de Santiago.
Its fiesta this year includes a fluvial parade on July 25, the feast day.
Other events include the coronation of the Queen of Compostela on July 21.
The town also selects Miss Compostela 2026 on July 23.
The town is home to the major shrine in Cebu of St. James the Greater, who is known in Spanish as Santiago El Mayor Apostol.
Panumod Festival – Barili (July 26)
The municipality of Barili concludes the series of late-July celebrations with the Panumod Festival on July 26 in honor of Señora Santa Ana.
The festival celebrates the town’s rich cultural heritage and devotion to its patron saint through dance performances, parades, and community activities.
Visitors can also take the opportunity to explore Barili’s scenic coastline, heritage sites, and local food offerings while joining the festivities.
Why visit Cebu fiestas?
Cebu’s town fiestas are more than colorful celebrations—they reflect each community’s unique identity, history, and faith.
Beyond the street dancing and festive atmosphere, visitors can enjoy authentic Cebuano hospitality, local cuisine, and cultural experiences that differ from one municipality to another.
