P-pop powerhouse BINI paid a courtesy visit to Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay on Friday, July 3, for initial talks on the girl group’s role as Philippines’ tourism ambassadors.
The octet, consisting of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha and Sheena, met with the Tourism secretary along with Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi.
“Each girl actually represents a province or a town and they’re very very knowledgeable about the charming feature of their towns,” said Angara-Mathay.

Dyogi welcomed the idea as he underscored the group’s objective to help Philippine tourism.
“It’s an honor for BINI, for us to be here. As we’ve said in the past, we’re here to help promote not only OPM but the Filipino culture,” he said. “And I think a lasting partnership with DOT will also be beneficial not only for the girls and ABS-CBN, but the entire industry.”
“We have not finalized anything but there are a lot of possibilities that we’re looking at,” he added.
With regard to the content the girl group will produce as tourism ambassadors, DOT Asec. Ren Sapitan hinted, “As much as possible, we want to engage them in regional and provincial events because these are the communities that we support the most from the national government.”
