Jakarta (ANTARA) -
The Ministry of Trade said Indonesian food products secured potential transactions worth US$5 million, or around Rp89.5 billion, through the Indonesia Pavilion at the Food Taipei Mega Show 2026.
The ministry's Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, said the achievement reflects Taiwan's growing confidence in the quality of Indonesian food products.
"The potential transactions of US$5 million show that Indonesian food products have quality, added value, and competitiveness that are increasingly recognized in the Taiwan market," Puntodewi said in a statement here on Friday.
The potential transactions were also the result of the synergy among the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI) Taipei, the Ministry of Trade, and the Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers Association (Gapmmi), as well as other partners.
Head of KDEI in Taipei Arif Sulistiyo said Indonesia's participation in the exhibition is part of the government's strategy to expand export markets while connecting Indonesian businesses with potential buyers.
A total of 20 Indonesian businesses showcased a wide range of flagship food products that are high-quality, innovative, and value-added, enabling them to compete in the global market.
The products on display included edible bird's nests, seafood, fruit snacks, low-calorie noodles, honey, coffee, spices, premium sauces and seasonings, sago palm sugar, and various processed fishery products.
According to Ministry of Trade data, total trade between Indonesia and Taiwan reached US$3.10 billion in January-April 2026.
The figure comprised Indonesia's exports to Taiwan worth US$1.59 billion and imports from Taiwan totaling US$1.51 billion.
As a result, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of US$80 million.
Meanwhile, total trade between Indonesia and Taiwan reached US$9.95 billion in 2025.
