Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operatives in Kwara State have arrested two suspects over alleged burglary, unlawful possession of firearms and suspected cult-related activities.
They also recovered two locally fabricated guns and a live cartridge during the intelligence-led operations in Ilorin.
The Command said the arrests followed investigations into separate reports of burglary and housebreaking incidents across parts of the Ilorin metropolis.
Mobile phones, laptops, electronic appliances and other valuables were reportedly stolen during the incidents.
Spokesman of the Command, Ayoola Michael Shola, said operatives of the Tracking Unit, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one of the suspects, Ajiboye Adedamola Oluwatobi, popularly known as “Kush-T,” at a suspected criminal hideout in the Danialu area of Gaa-Akanbi.
He said further intelligence-led operations resulted in the arrest of a second suspect, Dayo Sesan, also known as “Sexy.”
According to the NSCDC, two locally fabricated firearms and one live cartridge were recovered from the second suspect during the operation.
The Command said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly linked to a criminal syndicate believed to be responsible for burglary and related criminal activities in the Tanke, Pipeline and Gaa-Akanbi areas of Ilorin.
It added that the suspects identified themselves as members of the Aiye Confraternity.
“The suspects will be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction upon the conclusion of investigations,” the statement said.
The NSCDC said investigations were continuing to determine the full scope of the suspects’ alleged criminal activities and identify other members of the syndicate.
Kwara State Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-driven operations.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support efforts aimed at combating crime and improving public safety across the state.
