Thousands of Portugal fans gathered in central Lisbon to celebrate a 2-1 victory over Croatia, sending their team through to the World Cup last 16.

Thousands of Portugal supporters gathered at Lisbon's Terreiro do Paço to watch their national team defeat Croatia 2-1 and book a place in the World Cup last 16.

Before kick-off, fans illuminated their phone lights to honour Diogo Jota on the first anniversary of the Portugal forward's death.

Cristiano Ronaldo equalised from the penalty spot before Gonçalo Ramos headed in a stoppage-time winner.

Supporters erupted in celebration after a late Croatian goal was ruled out for offside. Portugal will now face Spain in the last 16.
