Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Alms Agency (Baznas) distributed 300 hygiene kit packages and blankets to residents of Kamarora Village, Sigi District, Central Sulawesi, to meet basic needs after the mid-June 2026 earthquake.
Baznas Head for Distribution, Utilization, and Empowerment Muzayyad said the aid reflects the agency’s swift response to emergencies following the quake that shocked several regions across the province.
“Baznas reaffirmed its presence by distributing hygiene kits and blankets to help residents maintain health and endure extreme weather during the emergency response period,” he noted in a statement cited here on Friday.
Muzayyad added that the aid items are as vital as food supplies, stressing that quake survivors urgently need them amid restricted access to hygiene and sanitation facilities.
He explained that Baznas procured and delivered all packages using alms and other Islamic philanthropic assets donated by the public.
“We are striving to ensure that people facing disaster can immediately benefit from the donations,” he said.
The official emphasized that Baznas will continue monitoring developments in affected areas and maintain coordination with relevant parties to tailor aid to survivors’ actual needs and ensure accurate distribution.
“In addition to distributing logistics, we have been working to optimize humanitarian services through teams stationed in quake-hit locations to ensure that emergency measures are proceeding swiftly in a targeted manner,” Muzayyad remarked.
He concluded by expressing hope that all aid and emergency measures would ease victims’ burdens and contribute to Central Sulawesi’s recovery.
Baznas mobilized resources to support the distribution of basic goods and disaster response after a 6.7 magnitude earthquake jolted the province on June 16.
The philanthropic agency set up public kitchens, provided health services, distributed clean water, established makeshift mosques, and rolled out psychosocial treatment for survivors.
