Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has distributed 4.77 million tonnes of subsidized fertilizer nationwide as of June 26, 2026, representing 48.5 percent of this year’s allocation of 9.84 million tonnes, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan reported.
Despite the positive trend, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening coordination and improving the management of subsidized fertilizer to ensure targeted distribution and boost cultivation yields.
“Fertilizer must be available ahead of a planting season to ensure unhindered cultivation processes and maintain agricultural productivity,” Hasan noted in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
The minister then pointed to Presidential Regulation No. 13 of 2025 governing fertilizer subsidies, which mandates measures aimed at increasing industrial efficiency, strengthening transparency, ensuring sustainable supply, and accelerating distribution to farmers.
Under that framework, he added, the government allocated 9.55 million tonnes of subsidized fertilizer for land farming and 295,686 tonnes to the fisheries sector.
Hasan made the statement during a forum attended by 300 farmers and 100 fishers in Mamuju, West Sulawesi. A total of 37,773 tonnes of subsidized fertilizer have been distributed across the province out of the 77,367-tonne quota.
He assured the public of the government’s commitment to enforcing the new ceiling retail price for subsidized fertilizer, which has seen a 20-percent drop since October 22 last year.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of stronger synergy between the central government, regional authorities, state-owned enterprises, and farmers to keep subsidized fertilizer accessible and boost agricultural productivity amid emerging global challenges.
President Prabowo Subianto has called for Indonesia to expand fertilizer production, primarily to ensure adequate domestic supplies as part of the country's food self-sufficiency agenda.
He said the strategy had delivered favorable outcomes, creating fertilizer trade opportunities with several countries.
In fact, Indonesia has agreed to export 250,000 tonnes of fertilizer to Australia over the next five years, with the first shipment totaling 47,250 tonnes arriving in Brisbane on June 22.
