Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - The Lampung Regional Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency facilitated the export of 14 thousand tons of Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) to New Zealand on Friday (July 3, 2026), with the shipment valued at approximately Rp20 billion.
“The PKE was dispatched to New Zealand after meeting various export requirements, including the standards set by the destination country,” Head of the regional quarantine agency Donni Muksydayan stated in a press release received here on Friday.
He said that the shipment proves commodities originating from Lampung remain highly competitive in the international market.
The success also strengthens the position of local businesses in the international supply chain while strengthening global confidence in Indonesian agricultural products.
PKE is a high-value byproduct of the palm oil industry, widely utilized as an alternative raw material for animal feed due to its rich fiber content. New Zealand remains a highly potential market for the commodity.
Lampung's PKE exports have shown consistent growth in recent years. In 2024, the province recorded 172 export shipments totaling about 569,000 tons, valued at approximately Rp2.58 trillion.
The figure increased in 2025 to 184 shipments with a combined volume of around 1.34 million tons worth Rp3.12 trillion. From January to June 2026 alone, Lampung exported approximately 513,000 tons of PKE through 66 shipments, generating an estimated Rp1.17 trillion in export value.
Muksydayan said international demand for PKE continues to rise in line with the expanding global livestock industry.
"This presents a significant opportunity for Indonesia, particularly Lampung, to further expand its export market," he said.
He added that the latest 14,000-ton shipment was carried out by newly established exporters, reflecting growing business opportunities for Lampung's plantation commodities in overseas markets.
Throughout the export process, the regional quarantine agency conducted comprehensive inspections, supervision, and plant health certification, including the issuance of a Phytosanitary Certificate to ensure the shipment complied with international standards and New Zealand's import requirements.
"The success of these new exporters also demonstrates that our certification and quarantine supervision system effectively supports businesses in expanding into international markets in a sustainable manner," Muksydayan added.
