
“Moana” cast member Dwayne Johnson confirmed that the third installation of the hit animated Disney film is currently being developed.
Johnson, who voices demigod Maui in the animated film and portrays the character in the live-action adaptation of the movie, made the confirmation during a recent press conference for “Moana” in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
“Yes, we have talked about ‘Moana 3,’ yes,” Johnson revealed, as per Variety. “But first, live-action ‘Moana,’ we’ll let that come out first.”

“We have [the] amazing Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller, who have been our writers… They will pen ‘Moana 3,’” he noted.

Further details on the upcoming “Moana 3” were not immediately known to the public.

The first “Moana” film was released in 2016, followed by its sequel in 2024.
The live-action adaptation, which stars Catherine Laga’aia in the titular role and is directed by Thomas Kail, is set to premiere in Philippine theaters on July 8. Johnson is also one of the producers of the film. /ra
