QUEZON, Bukidnon — Authorities are investigating the deaths of an elderly couple whose bodies were discovered in an advanced state of decomposition inside their house in Barangay Palacapao here on Friday afternoon, July 3.
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed the scene as part of the investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of the deaths of the live-in partners aged 66 and 63.
Master Sgt. Erb Diaz, investigator of the Quezon Municipal Police Station, said the bodies were found by the 66-year-old woman’s niece, who went to check on the couple after they had not been seen for some time.

The niece immediately reported the incident to police after finding both victims lying motionless inside the house.
Their residence is located in a remote, hilly area about four kilometers from the site of the massive landslide and road collapse in Sitio Kipolot, Barangay Palacapao, which occurred in October 2025.
Diaz said the bodies were already infested with maggots and emitted a strong foul odor, leading investigators to estimate that the couple had been dead for nearly two weeks before they were discovered.
Police said the victims were engaged in corn farming and lived far from neighboring houses, circumstances that may have delayed the discovery of their deaths.
