Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is enforcing the law impartially, including in cases related to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, Head of the Government Communications Agency (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari said.
His remarks came in response to the alleged involvement of an active military officer and the designation of an active police officer as a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the management of the MBG program.
Speaking in Jakarta on Saturday, Qodari said the Attorney General's Office (AGO) is actively investigating alleged corruption within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) covering the 2025–2026 period.
"As the President has said, the law is being enforced impartially, regardless of anyone's background," he said.
Qodari emphasized that the ongoing legal process is focused on alleged actions committed while the suspects were serving at the National Nutrition Agency, rather than on their professional backgrounds or institutional affiliations.
"It is not because someone is a police officer or a civilian. The investigation concerns alleged misconduct that occurred while they were assigned to the institution where the case took place, namely the National Nutrition Agency," he explained.
He urged the public to allow the legal process to proceed and await further developments from investigators.
Earlier, the Attorney General's Office disclosed the alleged involvement of an active military officer in the corruption case.
Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation at the AGO's Junior Attorney General for Extraordinary Crimes, said in Jakarta on Thursday (July 2) that the military officer, identified by the initials BU, served as Secretary to the Deputy for Supply and Distribution at the National Nutrition Agency.
The AGO had previously named an active police officer, identified by the initials LMI, as a suspect in the same corruption investigation. LMI formerly served as Secretary to the Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation at the National Nutrition Agency.
