
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Two South Korean fugitives wanted in their home country were arrested in separate operations in Lapu-Lapu City on Thursday afternoon, July 2, after a joint operation by Philippine law enforcement agencies.
The simultaneous operations were carried out at around 3 p.m. by joint operatives from the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-7, and other law enforcement units in Barangay Marigondon.

Separate arrests in Lapu-Lapu
According to PRO-7, one of the Korean fugitives, identified only by the alias “Nam,” was arrested at a subdivision by virtue of a warrant issued by the Seoul Eastern District Court for violating Article 114 of the Criminal Act of the Republic of Korea.
Authorities said he is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice and a Summary Deportation Order issued by the Bureau of Immigration.
Police also disclosed that the fugitive had 10 previous convictions for insurance fraud and bodily injury offenses and was reportedly linked to a voice phishing syndicate operating in Cambodia.
In a separate operation, authorities arrested another South Korean fugitive identified only by the alias “Bae” at a residential condominium complex.
PRO-7 said the arrest was carried out through a warrant issued by the Uijeongbu District Court for violating Article 347(1) of the Criminal Act of the Republic of Korea.
Authorities said he had likewise been issued a Summary Deportation Order by the Bureau of Immigration after being declared an undesirable, undocumented, and overstaying alien.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea also identified him as a fugitive from justice, police added.

Joint operation
The arrests of the Korean fugitives stemmed from a coordinated operation involving personnel from the Regional Intelligence Division 7, Regional Special Project Unit 7, Bureau of Immigration-Field Service Unit, and the CIDG-7 Lapu-Lapu City Field Unit.
As of Saturday, July 4, both South Korean nationals are now in the custody of the Bureau of Immigration-Field Service Unit for documentation and proper disposition.
