Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Arif Satria stated Regional Innovation House is designed to build a research and innovation ecosystem that drives national development.
Speaking after a public lecture at Malang State University in Malang, East Java, on Friday (July 3), Satria emphasised that universities must maximise the use of these Regional Innovation House for research and innovation.
"Universities contribute to strengthening research and development for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local industries. Moving forward, a Regional Innovation House will be built in every province," he said.
He underscored that building a strong national economy requires strengthening regional economies first. Therefore, regions need programmes that can accommodate researchers conducting research and designing innovations.

According to him, the Regional Innovation House is designed to serve as a hub that brings together researchers from various universities within a single province.
It provides researchers from different institutions the opportunity to exchange ideas, from conceptualisation to implementation, creating research and innovation that addresses strategic issues at both provincial and district levels.
Satria further said that before rolling out the initiative, the agency plans to first launch the Indonesia Innovation House this September.
To accelerate the commercialisation of research and innovation developed by researchers, lecturers, and students, BRIN is encouraging universities to establish science techno parks.
"By building science techno parks, universities can bridge the gap between academia and industry," Satria noted.
