Man dies after alleged assault in Brisbane park

Police are investigating the death of a man after an alleged assault at a park in Brisbane's inner south.

Authorities said the 66-year-old man was involved in an "altercation" with another man at the West End Common on Vulture Street in West End just before 2am on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, but died a short time later.

A crime scene has been declared.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information or footage to contact police.
