LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Cebu will open the week with generally fair weather, although isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may still develop due to the prevailing easterlies, the state weather bureau said on Sunday, July 5.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said warm winds coming from the east will continue to influence conditions over Cebu and the rest of the Visayas.
Temperatures across the province are expected to range from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius today.

Super typhoon under watch
Meanwhile, Pagasa continues to monitor a super typhoon with the international name “Bavi” outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but within the agency’s monitoring area.
As of 3 a.m. on Sunday, the cyclone was located about 2,700 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, moving westward at 15 kilometers per hour.

It packed maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h and gusts reaching up to 240 km/h.
Pagasa said the super typhoon may maintain its strength as it enters PAR by Wednesday morning.
Current forecasts show that the cyclone is unlikely to make landfall in the Philippines.
The bureau said it may instead pass closest to Batanes before a possible landfall in Taiwan.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals may be hoisted over the northern and eastern portions of Northern Luzon as early as Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
Habagat to bring rains
While Cebu’s weather is expected to remain generally fair at the start of the week, scattered rains may begin affecting parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday due to the approaching super typhoon.
By Thursday, July 9, the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, combined with the influence of the super typhoon, may bring heavy rainfall over the northern and western parts of the country.
