
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — A brief fire broke out at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) office inside the City Commercial Center (C3 Mall) on Saturday afternoon, July 4, prompting the suspension of the agency’s civil registry services.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) reported receiving the alarm at 3:41 p.m. A security guard on duty said the blaze started near an electrical supply panel.
Responders quickly contained the flames using fire extinguishers before the fire could spread.

CDRRMO chief Vince Quipot said a short circuit in the wiring may have triggered the fire.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause. No injuries or major damage were reported.
In the aftermath, the PSA Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Statistical Office announced the suspension of operations at its Civil Registration Services (CRS) outlet in C3 Mall starting Monday, July 6, until further notice.
“All confirmed appointments scheduled during the suspension period will not be accommodated,” the advisory stated.

Clients are urged to secure their civil registry documents at other PSA CRS outlets nationwide, subject to service availability.
The agency apologized for the inconvenience, stressing that the safety of clients and personnel remains its priority.

Updates on the resumption of services will be posted on the official Facebook page of the PSA Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Statistical Office. /mcm
