TUGUEGARAO CITY — The local government unit (LGU) has given the owner of a hog farm in a residential area of Barangay Linao Norte seven days to relocate about 40 pigs following complaints from residents about the foul odor coming from the property.
The notice was issued by the city’s Barangay Affairs Office after neighbors complained that the stench from the piggery had become a nuisance and posed health and sanitation concerns.
A Joint Inspectorate Team led by Barangay Affairs Officer Gerald Valdez, together with Sanitary Inspector Dexter Singson and barangay officials, inspected the property on Wednesday (July 1).

Valdez said the owner had previously been issued notices, and the facility was inspected last year following similar complaints. Despite those actions, residents said the odor persisted, affecting nearby homes and a school.
During the latest inspection, the owner agreed to relocate the pigs and was ordered to remove them from the village within seven days. The directive was later formalized in writing.
The owner did not issue a statement.

“If the seven-day deadline is not met, the government will be forced to confiscate the animals and impose the appropriate fines on the owner,” Valdez said.
The inspectorate team also met with Barangay Captain Renato Narag to strengthen monitoring and enforcement against illegal backyard piggeries and similar sanitation concerns in Linao Norte.
